Male Archetypes: The Priest

September 22nd 2007 19:17
No matter where you are in your evolutionary self-growth, the priest is the part of you that never sacrifices principle under any circumstances. We usually think of spiritual determination in a religious sense. I am not talking about religion here, but rather where you stand in relation to your people, your community, and your country. Spiritual determination depends on lineage, legacy, geography, and the culture and traditions of a people defined within a country or nation. Spirit is how you maintain the integrity of the principles of your culture. Many wars and conflicts in the world today are occurring because artificial boundaries drawn by conquerors and colonists disrupted natural boundaries and split cultures, societies and tribes.

This archetype is associated with the embodiment of divine power and being sent on a mission by heaven to save humanity. For all of its Judeo-Christian significance, the archetype of the Messiah has also become associated with psychological behavior. The Messianic complex, for example, applies to a person who is convinced of his divine mission and, in almost all cases, becomes obsessed with his mission to the point of psychosis, reaching an extreme in which a person begins to hear voices directing him to take lethal action. Criminals such as Jim Jones and Charles Manson are evidence of the shadow Messiah in its extreme.

Its subtle expression, however, is far more common and more difficult to identify as a personal pattern. People can become obsessed about their spiritual purpose, convinced that God needs them to do something.

So I think the priest is the part of men that examines the history and legacy of our respective countries. In the United States, it is examining how this country became a republic and what the Bill of Rights represents. It means embracing the concept "of the people, by the people and for the people" and defending the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That is spiritual determination.

When we look into our collective spiritual energy, there is a huge dark void that is now being filled by corporate conglomerates worldwide. Corporate control and manipulation of wealth in the world has literally destroyed the concept of indivualization within a social and cultural structure and identity. We lost the concept of tribes and clans and now we are rapidly losing the nuclear family and the concept of state and country.

The priest is certainly the cornerstone of a good team in that they provide the vital restoration skills required to keep their allies standing in battle, they are so much more than that as well. Priests draw on the strength of their faith and their abilities are derived from the power of their respective deities.

Mis,

It's taken me a week, but I finally got here, amidst memoirs, birthday celebrations, visiting relatives and God knows wot... talking of which, for me this archetype (not the shadowy ones), but the current (or ex) priests and shamans, are the sexiest men I know.

I think it's the simplicity and humility ... I find it a very powerful aphrodizzyak ...

Is it getting hot in here or is that just me?

Lilla ...

These actually helped me figure out this weekend....
When the men were digging out the Hungi(i dont know if thats how you spell it - Its a New Zealand thing where lots of meat is buried to be cooked) Kman helped, but not as much as the others, even though hes big and strong. Hes good with small, delicate tasks, just has a completely different mindset. Finer somehow. He has warrior qualities - cuts wood, etc, but they run under the surface I think....Thanks MIs
