Nutritional Therapy

May 25th 2007 01:02
You are what you eat, You are what you think".

Treating the whole person is the art of addressing the source vs. the symptoms of health issues. Holistic Nutrition is providing the body with the nutrients and lifestyle it needs to naturally heal itself. A solid foundation for optimal health and wellness means a balanced diet of protein, carbohydrates and fats on a daily basis along with exercise and proper sleep.

Nutritional counseling will determine your specific nutrient requirements and needs in order for your body to heal. It provides a healthy plan to suit your individual lifestyle. A Certified Practitioner will personalize a program to create balance in your body so that you can achieve optimum health. Included in the program are balanced meal plans that specifically targets your needs, providing the body with adequate nutrients.

Nutrition counseling can help you eat healthy and enjoy delicious meals. In a one hour private session, our registered dietitian will help you plan a healthy diet based on your individual lifestyle, medical history, and food habits and preferences.

Clinical Nutrition tends to stress whole natural foods and nutritional supplements for health maintenance and treatment of disorders. Natural foods include organically grown, as well as those not processed, refined, or stored for any length of time. Naturopaths and nutritionists are foremost in this type of counseling and adhere to the philosophy that proper food choices will influence the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of the body.

Food Allergy Counseling helps individuals become "food detectives" to sort through and eliminate those foods causing hypersensitivities, allergies, and intolerances. Foods that are eliminated may be introduced carefully one at a time at a later date. A food allergist will ultimately design a specific diet for the individual.

Western Nutrition teaches the scientific knowledge behind the nutritional function of foods, as well as the daily nutritional requirements for optimal health. By understanding the chemical components of foods, individuals are taught to make healthier choices in their selections. Nutritionists will point out the risks involved in consuming processed, refined, and chemically treated foodstuffs and will recommend changes in eating habits to promote a healthier lifestyle.

Benefits are: more energy, better sleep, feel and look more youthful, less stress, better digestion, in control of your own health and of your life.

The dietitian will help to:

Analyze your present diet and lifestyle

Work with you to develop an individualized meal plan to meet your nutrition and lifestyle needs

Teach you how to implement your new meal plan

Provide you with tips for shopping, eating out and traveling

Those who may benefit from nutritional counseling include:

Adults

Adolescents

Children

Preschoolers

Athletes

Pregnant women

Anyone who wants to achieve optimal nutrition

Hey Mis,

I enjoyed the content, but not the colours... whoa! really hard on my poor ole eyes, sorry... I feel like I've been hypnotised ....

I was just having this conversation with a friend as to why (in the west) the doctor no longer even looks at the whole picture, whereas my naturopath, will look at any medications I have to take... not that I ever take any... I usually find the wholefood or supplement equivalent and save vital organs like kidneys, liver and heart from early 'death.' *chuckling* shoot... I'm being opinionated again, aren't I?

going now...but I did enjoy this post... maybe even re-commence by 30 minutes a day exercise regime..been really stopping myself lately...*lol*

Me too...I have been doodling around with the colors....

I see a naturopath and an OD instead of MD because like you I want my "whole person" seen... The medical model does not always work!

Thanks for visiting, reading, an commenting!
